CVHS BiWeekly Message: Prom Edition For the Week Beginning May 20th, 2024

CVHS Weekly Schedules for the Final Three Weeks of School

Memorial Day 2024 Observed at CVHS

As we approach Memorial Day 2024, let us take a moment to reflect on the profound significance of this day. Memorial Day is not just a long weekend or an opportunity for barbecues; it is a solemn occasion to honor and remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their selfless devotion and courage have secured the freedoms and liberties we hold dear. On this day, let us pause to pay tribute to their sacrifice, express our gratitude to those who have served, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the values they fought to defend. May we never forget the sacrifices made by our fallen heroes and their families, and may we strive to honor their memory every day.

Final Exam Attendance

Please prioritize your students’ final exams this year. We appreciate you planning vacations AFTER final exams. For an urgent situation that does not permit your student to take their final exam, please work with the teacher to make arrangements. However, know that missing an exam can greatly affect your students grade and/or earn them an incomplete in a course where they will have to make up the exam later.

Parent DEI Committee News

We have held seven Parent DEI committee meetings so far this year. The mission of our committee is:

  • The CV DEI committee works to champion inclusiveness within our school campus environment. We are energized around a harmonious vision of inclusion of all marginalized communities. This is done through:

    • adult role modeling

    • fostering dialogue within our diverse membership which is reflective of our school campus population

    • creating a think tank that works to bring our community together

    • supporting the student committee

We are meeting again on Thursday, May 30 VIA GOOGLE MEET to work out the details of our top 3-5 objectives. Contact cbenitez@gusd.net with any questions or inquiries.

Those objectives include:

  • Creating a list of community service opportunities for our students

  • Finding/researching visuals for the school that are representative of our student body

  • Working on a Focus Group opportunity

  • Supporting the student DEI committee on the 3/7/24 Cultural and Community Event

Thank you to the parents who participated. We are very excited about our future. You must be the parent/guardian of a current CV student to participate. Please email me at cbenitez@gusd.net if you are interested in participating in this committee.
