Early College Credit Opportunities with Glendale Community College

  • Dual Enrollment
    • Take courses after school to earn college credit
    • High school credit may be earned with prior counselor/principal approval
    • Fees are waived & textbooks are provided
  • Jump Start
    • Jump Start classes are a great way to interact with college students at GCC
    • College courses are scheduled after school to earn college credit (no high school credit)
    • Explore college majors and subjects before you graduate high school
    • Receive book vouchers per semester to help pay for books

High School Credit and GPA Information

  • Dual Enrollment Classes automatically award credits on the community college transcript. In order for the student to request high school credits for the dual enrollment course, students are required to complete this form and turn it in to their high school counselor with the student signature and a parent/ guardian signature. If approved, the student must complete the dual enrollment course and then submit an official community college transcript showing successful completion of the course to the high school registrar. Only dual enrollment courses approved for posting on the high school transcript will receive weighted value for high school cumulative GPA calculations.
  • Jump Start classes do not appear on the High School transcript or provide high school graduation credits. There is no impact on the student’s high school GPA. With prior approval, special permission may be granted by the counselor and principal to include a jumpstart course (Language other than Englishnot offered at high school, Math summer bridge, Early Grad English) on the student’s high school transcript.

    • Courses offered for high school credit with pre-approval from high school counselor for credit recovery or advancement.
    • Courses: Health, US History, World History, Government, Economics, credit recovery
    • No college credit given
    • Not weighted for GPA calculation
  • Recommended Glendale College Transferable Courses (to UC/CSU) with no Prerequisites
