I hope this message finds you well as we move into the middle of October — a time full of activity and reflection here at Crescenta Valley High School. Please note that Monday 10/13 is a regular day with school starting at 8:30am.
This Monday, we recognize Indigenous Peoples Day, honoring the histories, cultures, and contributions of Native peoples across our nation. Later this month, we also join our community members who celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights — a beautiful celebration of hope, renewal, and the triumph of light over darkness. To all who observe, we wish you joy and peace.
On Thursday, October 16, CVHS will participate in the California Great ShakeOut, the statewide earthquake preparedness drill. This is an important opportunity for our students and staff to practice what to do in the event of an earthquake. We also encourage all families to use this week as a reminder to review your own home emergency plans — check that you have water, food, flashlights, and other essential supplies ready to go. A few minutes of preparation can make a big difference in keeping your family safe.
The following day, Friday, October 17, marks both the end of the quarter and a minimum day for students. Parents and guardians, please take a few moments to check in on your student’s academic progress through ParentSquare and talk together about goals for the second quarter.
Looking ahead, Thursday, October 23 will be our PSAT administration day. More information about that day’s special bell schedule will be shared soon, but please note that all students will follow an adjusted schedule to support testing.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing partnership and support. Crescenta Valley High School continues to thrive because of the care and commitment of our families, staff, and students.
