Financial Aid Information

California enacted legislation (Assembly Bill 469) requiring:

Districts to confirm that all high school seniors have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a California Dream Act Application (CADAA) to increase access to financial aid and expand access to thousands of students who may have otherwise not been aware of this opportunity. We strongly believe it is crucial to inform students and families about the importance of filling out the FAFSA or CADAA as soon as possible but no later than the CA State deadline of March 2.

FAFSA information can be found through CSAC or Student Aid

CADAA application and information can also be found on this CSAC information page

Students applying to private schools should check the scholarship and financial aid requirements to see if they need to complete the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA.

CSS Profile can be found at https://cssprofile.collegeboard.org/

ALL students should also check the weekly e-bulletin, Fastweb (https://www.fastweb.com), or other scholarship sites for scholarship opportunities and apply when appropriate.

Watch deadlines for applications. The CVHS Community based scholarship application is available in January 2025. The CVHS Scholarship information (TBA) as well as current scholarship opportunities can be found on the Scholarship Page.

The annual Financial Aid Night was held Wednesday, November 13th, 2024 from 6:30 – 7:30 at CVHS.

Presentation Slides are available for download.

FAFSA = Free Application for Federal Student Aid can be found on https://www.fafsa.gov or https://studentaid.gov/

• Student and Parents submit FAFSA online between 12/01/24 - 03/02/25

• CV uploads your Cal Grant GPA for you to the California Student Aid Commission

• Colleges match your FAFSA to your CalGrant offers and other scholarship or aid for your financial package

The CSS Profile is an online application that collects information used by nearly 400 colleges and scholarship programs to award non-federal aid. Check your desired college financial aid page to see if you need to complete the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA.
