Weekly Falcon Flyer

Message from the Assistant Principal's

Happy Birthday, Mr. Lincoln!
This Monday, we observe the birthday of Abraham Lincoln. As we enjoy the holiday, let us reflect on his simple yet powerful advice to strive for excellence in character: “Whatever you are, be a good one.”

That spirit of character was evident on our campus this week. We want to extend a sincere thank you to our students and staff regarding Thursday's walkout. We are proud to be a community that recognizes our students' right to free speech and expression, and we are thankful that the event was conducted safely and respectfully.

Looking ahead, we also want to remind everyone that every minute of instruction counts. Please make a conscious effort to arrive at class on time. To support this goal, we will be conducting periodic tardy sweeps throughout the upcoming month. Let’s respect our teachers' time and our own learning by being in our seats when the bell rings.

A huge thank you to all the student leaders who participated in the Rosemont Roadshow this past Friday! It was a fantastic day getting to know the Class of 2030 and helping them prepare for their transition to high school. We are so proud of how our current Falcons represented CVHS and welcomed the next generation into the nest.

Excellence is on full display in our athletics and activities! A massive congratulations to our Winter Sports teams as they begin their CIF playoff runs. We are incredibly proud of our newly crowned Pacific League Champions: Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, and Girls Basketball! We also want to celebrate our Cheer Team for their outstanding performance as CIF Runners-Up last weekend. Finally, sending our best luck to Speech and Debate as they prepare for their State Qualifying competitions—go make your voices heard!

UPDATE: Community Service Hours

Unfortunately, the way community service hours were submitted and tracked in the past has encountered a technical issue, and the data that was collected cannot be retrieved. We understand this is frustrating and concerning for students and families who relied on that system.

To help remedy the situation, from January 2026 through the end of the school year in June 2026, we will be using a paper-based process so students can re-report the hours they have completed and any additional hours earned this year. Paper forms will be available in the library and on the school website. Please use this LINK to print forms at home.

Please note:

  • Hours completed before January 2026 do NOT require a supervisor’s signature.
  • Hours completed during and after January 2026 WILL require a supervisor’s signature.
  • All completed forms should be turned in to Mrs. Gay in the library. We strongly encourage students to take a photo of the completed form for their own records.

We are actively working on a new and improved digital system for tracking community service hours and will share details with the school community once it is ready to launch.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Gay at rgay@gusd.net or Ms. Papazyan at npapazyan@gusd.net.
