As it is Mother's Day, we want to take a moment to celebrate and express our deepest appreciation for all the maternal figures in our community. We know that "mom" means something different to everyone. This weekend, we honor biological mothers, adoptive and foster moms, stepmothers, grandmothers, aunts, older sisters, and dedicated community mentors. We also hold space for the mothers of our past whose love continues to guide us, and for anyone who has stepped up to provide that vital nurturing care. Whoever the maternal figure is in your life, we celebrate them and thank them for the tireless support they provide our students.
The patience, guidance, and empathy these caregivers model for us serve as a powerful reminder of how we must treat one another here in our own community. We expect every Falcon to interact with respect and dignity every single day. We want to be absolutely clear: violence is never an acceptable way to communicate, express frustration, or solve problems. Instead, we use our words to build each other up, and we rely on constructive dialogue and understanding to resolve our conflicts. By treating each other with respect, we honor the lessons of kindness that our caregivers work so hard to instill in us.
Wishing a peaceful, joyous, and restful weekend to all who celebrate! |
What an incredibly busy, successful, and action-packed week here in Falcon Country! Here is a recap of all the amazing things happening at CV: - Teacher Appreciation: We spoiled our amazing staff for Teacher Appreciation Week! A huge thank you to our PTSA and Korean parent community for their generous support and for making our teachers feel so loved.
- Honda Helpful Teacher Award: A very special shoutout goes to Mrs. Workman, who received this prestigious award. We are so lucky to have her!
- Academics & AP Testing: Our students have been working incredibly hard and giving it their all during AP Testing this week. Keep up the great work, Falcons!
- District Recognition: Over at the District, our Academy students and Robotics Team 589 earned some well-deserved recognition for their hard work, innovation, and dedication.
- Speech and Debate: Our team absolutely crushed it! Massive congratulations to Tameer Khandaker (1st place and finals for International Extemp), Parker Johnson (3rd place and finals for Informative), and our MVP Latika Mahajan (6th in Declamation, 7th in Impromptu, and finals for both!).
- Athletics Update: Falcon pride is soaring! Boys Volleyball fought hard in the quarterfinals; while they didn't take the win, they had an absolutely fantastic season that we are all so proud of. Tennis just secured a huge playoff victory this Friday, and the excitement continues as both Baseball and Softball gear up for their own playoff runs this coming week. (Note: If you missed the recent Athletics meeting and need more info, please reach out to Miguel Gonzalez).
Let's keep this amazing momentum going, Go Falcons! |
Parent/Guardian Meeting for CVHS, Dunsmore and Valley View Crescenta Valley High School, 2900 Community Avenue, La Crescenta-Montrose, CA Cafeteria Monday, May 18, 2026 From 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. (Enter through the gate on Glenwood and Prospect. The cafeteria door will be open.)
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As you are aware from previous District communications, Joseph Vladimir Sanchez, a former special education agency-contracted assistant, was arrested and the Glendale Police Department is leading the criminal investigation. The District continues to cooperate fully with law enforcement while also conducting an external investigation through the law firm of Epstein, Becker & Green (EBG).
District leadership has hosted individual meetings with every school community where Sanchez worked. Please note at no time was he assigned to [School Name]. While the law enforcement and EBG investigations are underway, we want to hear directly from our families from the remaining schools, so you may ask questions and we can provide clarity where possible. We understand that this information is deeply concerning.
District leadership will be on the Crescenta Valley High School campus on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria for a group meeting with parents and guardians of Crescenta Valley High School and Dunsmore and Valley View Elementary Schools. This session is intended to provide space for focused discussion and questions.
District representatives will review what has been shared with the community to date, outline supervision and student safety measures that have been strengthened across GUSD, and respond to questions within the limits of an active investigation. If you are not able to attend this meeting designated for our school, but would still like to have your questions answered, please connect with me for more information on the meeting schedule.
Translation services and childcare will be provided to ensure our families have access.
While we may not be able to address every question in detail due to the ongoing investigation, we remain committed to communicating with care, transparency, and respect.
If you have information relevant to the criminal investigation, we strongly encourage you to contact the Glendale Police Department directly at 818-548-3106.
The safety, welfare, and well-being of our students remain our highest priority. We look forward to meeting with you on May 18. |

Dear Glendale Unified Parents/Guardians and Students,
Keeping students safe online and focused on learning is one of our top priorities. This week, we updated our internet filter on district-issued devices and accounts. This filter works on district Chromebooks, computers, and Google/Chrome accounts.
You may notice that some websites, such as Wikipedia, YouTube, social media, and some image searches, are blocked. These changes help make sure students use safe and reliable resources for schoolwork. Alternative websites include but are not limited to: britannica.com, school.eb.com, and kiddle.co.
Teachers collaborate with our Educational Technology and Information Services team to review websites and determine whether they should be made accessible to students across the district for educational purposes. If you come across a site necessary for class that is currently blocked, please inform your teacher.
We are here to support you and your education. |
