As we head into another busy week at Crescenta Valley High School, I want to share some incredible recent achievements, campus updates, and important upcoming dates with all of you.
Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day
Please note that there will be no school on Friday, April 24th, in observance of Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. This is a profoundly important day of mourning and reflection for our school and the greater community. It is a solemn occasion to honor the memory of the 1.5 million victims who lost their lives beginning in 1915, and it serves as a powerful reminder of our shared, global commitment to human rights and standing against unchecked hatred. While it is a day of grief, it is also a testament to the incredible resilience, strength, and vibrant culture of the Armenian people that thrives today.
CASPS Awards Celebration
Speaking of incredible resilience and strength, I want to give a massive shout-out to the 55 12th graders of Armenian heritage who earned the CASPS (Committee for Armenian Students in Public Schools) award this past Thursday night! These outstanding seniors earned a 3.75 cumulative GPA or better. We are so proud of your dedication to academic excellence.
Exemplary Arts Education Award
Also happening on Friday, April 24th, CVHS representatives will be traveling to Anaheim to officially receive the Exemplary Arts Education Award. We are incredibly proud of our Visual and Performing Arts department and the amazing, high-quality opportunities they continuously provide our students!
Student Senate
We had an awesome Student Senate meeting last Friday! Together, we analyzed our recent Panorama Survey data, discussing our campus strengths and brainstorming ways we can improve in the areas of:
- Emotional regulation
- Growth mindset
- School safety
- Sense of belonging
- Self-efficacy
- Social awareness
Thank you to our student senators who have served this year. We deeply appreciate your valuable input, leadership, and service to our school community!
Falkon Robotics Impact Award
I am incredibly proud to share that Crescenta Valley High School's FIRST Robotics Competition Team 589, "Falkon Robotics," has been recognized as the FIRST Impact Award winner at the Southern California FIRST Championship! Way to go, Team 589!
Athletics
- Spring athletics is lighting it up!
- A huge shout-out to our Track team, who broke a school record last Saturday!
- Also, a big shout-out to the seniors on our athletic teams who have been celebrating Senior Night in Softball, Lacrosse, Swim, and more!
Keep up the amazing work, athletes!
Speech and Debate is going to Nationals!
- Lauren Lee earned 1st Place in original oratory
- Camille Elliott and Ella Nicholson earned 1st place in duo interpretation
- Quinlan Iwasaka earned 1st place in international extemporaneous
