It has been a fantastic first week back to school, and the energy on campus is incredible! As we dive into the final stretch of the year, we have a lot to celebrate, recognize, and look forward to.
This month, we are proud to honor the rich tapestry of our school community. Join us in recognizing and celebrating Deaf History Month, Arab American Heritage Month, and Armenian American Heritage Month. These observances provide a wonderful opportunity to learn from one another and appreciate the diverse cultures and histories that make our Falcon family so strong.
A Quick Note on Punctuality
As part of our ongoing effort to ensure everyone maximizes their learning time, we conducted another tardy sweep this week. While we are thrilled that the vast majority of our students were in their seats ready to learn, 13 students were caught in the sweep. Let's make it a school-wide goal to see that number drop to zero next week! Remember, every minute of instruction counts.

Unfortunately, the way community service hours were submitted and tracked in the past has encountered a technical issue, and the data that was collected cannot be retrieved. We understand this is frustrating and concerning for students and families who relied on that system.
To help remedy the situation, from January 2026 through the end of the school year in June 2026, we will be using a paper-based process so students can re-report the hours they have completed and any additional hours earned this year. Paper forms will be available in the library and on the school website. Please use this LINK to print forms at home.
Please note:
Hours completed before January 2026 do NOT require a supervisor’s signature.
Hours completed during and after January 2026 WILL require a supervisor’s signature.
All completed forms should be turned in to Mrs. Gay in the library. We strongly encourage students to take a photo of the completed form for their own records.
We are actively working on a new and improved digital system for tracking community service hours and will share details with the school community once it is ready to launch.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Gay at rgay@gusd.net or Ms. Papazyan at npapazyan@gusd.net.

Spread the word! LA2050 Youth Ambassador applications open now!
I’m excited to share about this year’s LA2050 Youth Ambassador Program, which may be of interest to your students.
My name is Brenda Macuil and I’m one of the Social Impact and Research Fellows at the Goldhirsh Foundation. Each year, we grant more than $1 million to non-profit organizations making Los Angeles better through the LA2050 Grants Challenge.
We’re looking for young Angelenos (ages 14 to 24) who are passionate about making an impact and interested in community engagement and philanthropy to serve as LA2050 Youth Ambassadors.
Participants build skills in community outreach and engagement through interactive virtual training sessions. Then, they get real-world practice through mobilizing friends, family, and neighbors to vote in the LA2050 Grants Challenge, helping elevate the issues that matter most to Angelenos. (March to May 2026, with an estimated time commitment of 12 total hours.)
General Cohort members will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Please, help us spread the word and share this opportunity with the young Angelenos in your community! We would also love to have partners distribute information about the Youth Ambassador program on social media or in their newsletters. If interested, please let us know and we’ll provide you with materials.
