Message from the Assistant Principals

Dear Falcon Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! The Assistant Principal team is thrilled to welcome our returning families and new students to campus. As we settle into the rhythm of the new year, we want to partner with you to ensure a safe, supportive, and focused learning environment where every student can thrive.

To help our students succeed, we ask for your support in reinforcing a few key campus expectations:
  • Attendance: Regular attendance is directly tied to student success. Please ensure your student arrives every day ready to learn. If your student must be absent, please notify the attendance office in a timely manner to clear the absence.
  • Tardies: Instruction begins promptly at the bell. Arriving on time minimizes disruptions for teachers and peers. Help your student build strong habits by planning for morning traffic and ensuring they are in their seats before the bell rings.
  • Cell Phone & Device Use: To maximize classroom engagement, personal cell phones, earbuds, and smartwatches must be put away during instructional time unless explicitly permitted by a teacher for an academic task. Let’s work together to help our students stay present and focused on learning.
  • Dress Code: We ask all students to dress appropriately for a school setting. Clothing should allow students to participate fully and comfortably in all daily school activities while maintaining a respectful academic atmosphere. Please do not wear tube tops to school.

Lastly, thank you to 46% of families that already completed the Student Information on ParentConnection. Please take some time to complete the information if you have not already done so! If you have questions, please reach out to our Main Office.

6th Period- Important if your student participates in athletics, VAPA or CTE

Due to facility availability and coaching schedules, Athletics, VAPA or CTE practices may not always align with the school's 6th-period schedule. To accommodate these practice times, students who participate in a 6th period or zero period, Athletic/VAPA/CTE class will be permitted to leave Crescenta Valley High School at the end of 5th period. If your student leaves early, parents/guardians assume full liability and responsibility for their safety to and from home.
If you agree to allow your child to leave campus after 5th period, no action is required.

How to Deny Permission: If you do not want your child to leave campus early and require them to remain supervised at school, you must notify us immediately.
Please send an email to our Athletic Coordinator/Administrator, Mr. Gonzalez, at mgonzalez@gusd.net.
In your email, please include:
  • Your child's full name
  • Your child's Student ID number
  • A clear statement that you are denying off-campus permission
Recommend: I am writing to formally deny off-campus permission for my child. I do not grant permission for my child to leave the Crescenta Valley High School campus early after 5th period.

Freshmen Baseball Team's Cultural Exchange at Dodger Stadium

We are excited to share a unique opportunity our baseball program recently experienced.
Thanks to an outreach effort from a local community member, our freshman baseball team participated in a cultural exchange with a visiting freshman team from Japan. Head Coach Brian Rich connected with the organizers, allowing our student-athletes to participate in a special joint event at Dodger Stadium on Friday, August 21st.
Our players were accompanied by Head Coach Brian Rich, Assistant Athletic Director Anthony Oviedo, and Athletic Trainer Junko Nakayama. During the visit, both teams enjoyed a comprehensive tour of the Dodgers' athletic facilities and shared the field for a joint practice session.

This was a fantastic experience for our players to engage in cross-cultural sportsmanship and see a professional athletic environment firsthand. Thank you to everyone who helped coordinate this event for our team.
